Tyler Matson, a Construction Management student from the University of Minnesota, worked directly with our Project Management Department. When asked what his most significant takeaway from this summer was, he said, “Working at Loeffler helped me become exposed to the day-to-day life of a project manager/project engineer. I learned applicable skills that I couldn’t have learned in school! Based on these skills I learned, I’d say my biggest takeaway was how important it is to stay organized and detailed with your work. Whether that means over-documenting, tracking budgets and submittals, or organizing project documents.”
Our other intern Nate Schmidt, a Construction Management student at Dunwoody College of Technology, worked with our Superintendents. Over the past few months, he has helped with the University of Minnesota’s Campus Wide Roof Replacement project. We certainly couldn’t have done it without him! When asked what his biggest takeaway from the summer was, he said, “Learning how to better communicate and lead subcontractors, as well as gaining a better understanding of how to effectively implement time management into each day.”
Both Nate and Tyler will be heading back to school in the next few weeks to finish up their degrees. We wish them the best of luck in their final year of school!
