UMN – West Bank Steam Shaft #39

This project included refurbishment of Steam Shaft #39 linings and surface vaults at the surface, located on the University of Minnesota’s West Bank. Ventilation fans were installed in the deep tunnel system. In order to make the new steam and condensate piping operational a highly coordinated cut over was required. Our outage effected the entire west bank campus, including invaluable library archives. Months of planning culminated in a successful cut over that occurred in a single weekend.
