Project Spec Sheet:
UMN West Bank Skyway (1,240 KB)

Located on the Minneapolis Campus, this project provided upgrades to the exterior skyway that included demolition, framing, and installation of new Centria metal panels over Metro Transit’s right-of-way. The replacement of the exterior envelope and upgrades will help eliminate water infiltration of the existing skyway.

Challenged by a wet and rainy spring that postponed Metro Transit’s originally planned Light rail outage, Loeffler was able to showcase efficient coordination and planning efforts that brought the completion of the West Bank Skyway under budget and weeks before the original anticipated completion date. The success of this project even allowed enough time for Loeffler to provide the University with a new sign that welcomes students as they cross over the Washington Bridge.

The outcome of this project can be accredited to the entire project team that took part in these efforts, as well as a 53 hour outage which Loeffler only required 42 hours to complete. This outage included challenging work requirements over vehicle traffic, high voltage lines, and major pedestrian route adjacent to our work areas.
