Project Spec Sheet:
UMN Knoll Area Infrastructure
Historically recognized as the oldest part of the Minneapolis Campus, the Knoll Area Infrastructure Improvements project presented a unique line of logistic challenges. Tested by an aggressive schedule that would span two construction seasons, and an elaborate scope of exterior and interior work, our resilient team managed underground utility upgrades, tunnel repairs, and roadway improvements across a large part of campus.
As the construction manager for this project, Loeffler Construction & Consulting played a vital role in the pre-design and construction success of this project. From complex logistics planning to adaptive coordination with University and the City of Minneapolis, Loeffler demonstrated their commitment and INTEGRITY BUILT model through all stages of the work. Unique aspects of this project included deep excavation and boring strategies to extend chilled water networks, creative shoring designs to support tunnel reconstruction, replacement of duct bank and site lighting, upgraded water and sewer systems, and complete reconstruction of deteriorated sidewalk, roadway, and parking corridors that navigate around historic buildings and trees.
