MnDOT Des Moines Rest Stop

Loeffler provided cost estimating services throughout multiple design phases for the demolition and replacement of the existing safety rest area at the Des Moines River – Jackson, MN location. The project consisted of a new 4,540 SF building that will serve as a restroom/safety area for travelers on I-90.

The design and engineering of the building comprised sustainable features that preserve the integrity and beauty of the project site. Prominent features of the new building include a green roof and a nature overlook structure. Site rehabilitation of the 2.5-acre site included new walkways, landscaping, play areas, pet exercise areas, and picnic areas.
